The Child Brides: Send Them To School Instead Girls in Rajasthan, India are often forced into early marriage. Convincing the community and better school infrastructure prevents this. Only 1 of every 100 girls in rural India is educated to grade 12 today. This leaves them unprepared for life & parenthood, and exposes them to health risks such as low inter-birth intervals, malnourishment, etc. Rise Up is partnering to rejuvenate existing government schools and convince parents to send girls to school. Girls' education fights malnutrition, reduces HIV and violence against women. Benefits include lower birth rates and increased literacy with increased family income.
